Establishment:
Inspired by filling the gap that existed in publishing content about the Horn of Africa with Amhara perspectives.

Objectives:
To publish impactful content that:
- enlightens and corrects historical and cultural inaccuracies,
- indicate the best way forward, and
- fill the gap that exists in materials for policy makers with the view to enhance the lives of ordinary citizens in the region.
Who are behind Horn Horizons?
Professionals in various fields, committed to serve their community and the wider region through publication, creation of platforms for discussion and education
Horn Horizons:
- is incorporated with the Government of Washington DC in March 2024;
- is incorporated as a non-profit – pending a 501(c)(3) status;
- is administered by nine board of directors;
- will be financed by member contributions, sponsorships, and sales of printed materials; and
- volunteers will form the bulk of its workforce, with an exception of perhaps a few staff to be employed – given financial resources
Planned activities of Horn Horizons:
- Publications: Journal of Amhara Studies – first journal, perhaps more will come; Books – textbooks, research monographs, conference proceedings, and biographies – as necessary;
- Conference organization (both online and face-to-face); and
- Other activities, as required.
